Van Cleef & Arpels is a prestigious and esteemed brand renowned for its luxurious jewelry. One of their most iconic collections is the Alhambra Collection, which showcases a charming four-leaf clover motif symbolising good fortune and luck.
Since 2005, Van Cleef & Arpels has been introducing limited edition Alhambra pendants known as the “Holiday Pendants”. What sets these pendants apart is the inclusion of a dazzling diamond at the center of the clover. These pendants are crafted in the Vintage Alhambra size, measuring 15mm x 15mm, making them perfect for everyday wear.
Each year, Van Cleef & Arpels features a different stone for the Holiday Pendants, with two exceptions being onyx and white mother-of-pearl. Onyx was used in 2005 and 2016, set in yellow gold and rose gold respectively. White mother-of-pearl, on the other hand, has three versions in yellow gold (2007), white gold (2009), and rose gold (2012). The brand has also utilised various other materials such as lapis lazuli (2010), carnelian (2011), malachite (2013), grey mother-of-pearl (2014), pink porcelain (2015), bull’s eye (2017), gold mother-of-pearl (2018), blue porcelain (2019), white gold guilloche (2020), rhodonite (2021), celadon porcelain (2022), and silver obsidian (2023).
An interesting detail worth mentioning is that in 2008, the holiday pendant motif deviated from the usual clover shape and embraced a star design. This unique pendant featured white mother-of-pearl and yellow gold without a diamond, earning it the name “Lucky Star.”
Furthermore, it’s not widely known that in 2012, two holiday pendants were released. The not so well-known one was a numbered Alhambra piece crafted from letterwood and rose gold. These limited edition pendants added an extra touch of exclusivity for collectors.
